Outlaw Golf is a series of golfvideo games developed by Hypnotix, that are intended for adults and mature teens. Outlaw Golf was released for the Xbox on June 10, 2002; for Nintendo GameCube on October 29, 2002; and for Microsoft Windows on September 30, 2003. A standalone expansion, Outlaw Golf: Holiday Golf was released December 23, 2002. A second standalone expansion, Outlaw Golf: 9 More Holes of X-Mas, was released November 15, 2003. An official sequel, Outlaw Golf 2, was released for Xbox on October 21, 2004 and for PlayStation 2 on November 25, 2004. The games are part of the Outlaw series, and other titles include Outlaw Volleyball and Outlaw Tennis.

Gameplay[edit]

Outlaw Golf maintains the traditional rules of golf while adding adult-themes such as sexuality and violence.

Outlaw Golf supports single player and multiplayer with 1-4 players, and Outlaw Golf 2 supports single player, online and offline multiplayer with 1-4 players. Players take control one of several characters, each with their own unique caddy. The series is noted for its crude humor, particularly in regard to the characters, most of whom fall under an exaggerated archetype. These include a stripper, a hippie, a biker, and more. Unique to the series is the Composure Meter. As players do well, the player character's composure meeting increases. The maximum distance rating for each club increases or decreases in relation to the player character's composure. This is designed to simulate frustration: the more shots missed, the more frustrated the player character gets, and the worse they perform. In order to counteract this, the player character can beat or humiliate their caddy in some way, which raises the composure meter back up. Hitting a perfect shot results in the ball bursting into flames as it travels, the flames extinguishing when the turn is over.[1]Outlaw Golf 2 includes new courses and additional golfers and caddies. Actor and comedian Steve Carell provides the commentator track for the original Outlaw Golf,[1] and comedian Dave Attell takes over announcing duties in Outlaw Golf 2.[2]

A ball used by winners of the major United States golf championships this year has been banned by the United States Golf Association. The Titleist Tour 384, used by Hal Sutton to win the Professional Golfers' Association title last week, was removed from the list of U.S.G.A.-approved balls Tuesday and may not be used in competition governed by the association's rules. The association and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in Scotland form golf's ruling body and set the standards for balls and clubs.According to the U.S.G.A., the Titleist Tour 384 - it has 384 dimples - violates rule 2-3, which says: 'The ball shall be designed and manufactured to perform in general as if it were spherically symmetrical.' The problem with the 384 - and all its dimples - is that it bores through the wind better and stays airborne longer than the balls allowed by the rules. The ban dominated clubhouse and locker-room conversation today at the 7,001-yard, par-72 Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, site of the Buick Open that begins Thursday.

The ball was among the most popular on the PGA Tour. After the announcement, 55 of the 154 golfers entered in the Buick began looking for another ball to play.' 'Somewhere along the line, you have to draw the line,' said Frank Thomas, chief of testing for the U.S.G.A.

Basically when i load up my retail bought darkest of days game, it loads to the main menu fine but when i click new game it loads but when it says press any key to play/continue i click and all i get is a black screen with all the audio. The darkest black color. Yeah i got the black screen too. Ripped off by steam. The game does not work on newer computers steam should remove this game but you can always get a refund bud. This game is never on sale and has been non active for years. The company that owns the rights makes casino games mostly so idk why they paid to own the rights makes no sense. I try to run it on xp, 7 and 10 and did many hours of.

At its headquarters in Far Hills, N.J. 'There are 350 or so balls on the conformity list, and testing is a lengthy and costly process.' 'However, several players and Titleist officials questioned the testing methods and the timing of the announcement.Robert B. Forbush, vice president of sales and marketing for Titleist, said the company would work closely with the association to get the ball back on the approved list as soon as possible. However, the next testing period is not until October.
